    Day #4

It is such a relief when your child wakes up excited to go to school. I always remember enjoying school and looking forward to it each morning. I am seeing such changes in him already. I don’t know if towards the end of the summer he was getting bored or he is just maturing because his attitude has really improved.

So far Hayden likes to go to Spanish they have that two times a week. Hayden went to the library yesterday and loved it! I am so glad that someone could give him a good library experience since I really lack in that area. ;-) He really likes the librarian because “she is so nice” and helped him to find a book about photography. I told him that his Aunt Lynn works in a library and he just smiled real big and looked pleased.

Hayden has taken his carpool buddy under his wing, I think he likes that Cody is 5 and he is 6. I love to watch him interact with his new friend. Until the next Kindergarten Kronicles…..Adiós

Other than the small quarters and the droves of people trying to get through the tiny isles, the Farmers Market is a summertime family favorite. We usually get some Kettlecorn, fire roasted green chili’s, homemade rootbeer and fresh veggies.

The colorful baskets of tomatoes, peppers, corn, squash and fruits are so pleasing to the eyes, the smell of fire roasted chili is enough to make you hungry for Mexican food.

Even though we were all tired and still not feeling 100% ourselves, it was nice to get out as a family and be outside. We took some pictures to share it with you!

“I really like recess, because you get ‘energetic’ and run around”

“I liked the craft we did, we made a bear”

“My favorite part of the classroom is that we can see outside, I like my desk and I like my desk mate, Joshua”

“I really like my teacher and our tutor”

“My cubby is blue and is full of new supplies”

“I love our uniforms, but my pants were too big and I didn’t like that too much”

I knew this day was just around the corner and I have been mentally preparing myself. However, as a mom, it is really hard to let your child go into someone else’s care and guidance. I am really happy with the teacher that Hayden got, he will be in great hands when we are apart and I look forward to see him blossom.

This morning was very exciting, I love that they have to wear uniforms, Hayden looked so handsome and so grown up. He met another six year old buddy, I hope that they will become friends. (They are the tallest kids in their class) The other thing that I love is that there are several people from church who go and teach there, including Hayden’s teacher.

We will be posting more pictures this evening, but I had to get at least one up. Please check back later for more!!

I really do not know if I was searching for words of assurance for me or words of encouragement for dear friends of ours going through some huge trials right now. Maybe both? But, I stumbled upon this devotional which has given me strength and I pray that it will do the same for you if you are in the midst of trials, whether it be an illness of a loved one, a loss, depression or anything else that can be a burden to us and try to make us weak.

    Charles Spurgeon’s Daily Devotional

This morning devotional prepared for August, 17th.

    “The mercy of God.”–Psalm 52:8

Meditate a little on this mercy of the Lord. It is _tender mercy_. With gentle, loving touch, He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. He is as gracious in the manner of His mercy as in the matter of it. It is _great mercy_. There is nothing little in God; His mercy is like Himself–it is infinite. You cannot measure it. His mercy is so great that it forgives great sins to great sinners, after great lengths of time, and then gives great favours and great privileges, and raises us up to great enjoyments in the great heaven of the great God. It is _undeserved mercy_, as indeed all true mercy must be, for deserved mercy is only a misnomer for justice. There was no right on the sinner’s part to the kind consideration of the Most High; had the rebel been doomed at once to eternal fire he would have richly merited the doom, and if delivered from wrath, sovereign love alone has found a cause, for there was none in the sinner himself. It is _rich mercy_. Some things are great, but have little efficacy in them, but this mercy is a cordial to your drooping spirits; a golden ointment to your bleeding wounds; a heavenly bandage to your broken bones; a royal chariot for your weary feet; a bosom of love for your trembling heart. It is _manifold mercy_. As Bunyan says, “All the flowers in God’s garden are double.” There is no single mercy. You may think you have but one mercy, but you shall find it to be a whole cluster of mercies. It is _abounding mercy_. Millions have received it, yet far from its being exhausted; it is as fresh, as full, and as free as ever. _It is unfailing mercy_. It will never leave thee. If mercy be thy friend, mercy will be with thee in temptation to keep thee from yielding; with thee in trouble to prevent thee from sinking; with thee living to be the light and life of thy countenance; and with thee dying to be the joy of thy soul when earthly comfort is ebbing fast.

This afternoon devotional prepared for August, 17th.

“This sickness is not unto death.”–John 11:4

From our Lord’s words we learn that there is a limit to sickness. Here is an “unto” within which its ultimate end is restrained, and beyond which it cannot go. Lazarus might pass through death, but death was not to be the ultimatum of his sickness. In all sickness, the Lord saith to the waves of pain, “Hitherto shall ye go, but no further.” His fixed purpose is not the destruction, but the instruction of His people. Wisdom hangs up the thermometer at the furnace mouth, and regulates the heat.

    1. _The limit is encouragingly comprehensive_. The God of providence has limited the time, manner, intensity, repetition, and effects of all our sicknesses; each throb is decreed, each sleepless hour predestinated, each relapse ordained, each depression of spirit foreknown, and each sanctifying result eternally purposed. Nothing great or small escapes the ordaining hand of Him who numbers the hairs of our head.

    2. _This limit is wisely adjusted_ to our strength, to the end designed, and to the grace apportioned. Affliction comes not at haphazard–the weight of every stroke of the rod is accurately measured. He who made no mistakes in balancing the clouds and meting out the heavens, commits no errors in measuring out the ingredients which compose the medicine of souls. We cannot suffer too much nor be relieved too late.

    3. _The limit is tenderly appointed_. The knife of the heavenly Surgeon never cuts deeper than is absolutely necessary. “He doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.”A mother’s heart cries, “Spare my child”; but no mother is more compassionate than our gracious God. When we consider how hard-mouthed we are, it is a wonder that we are not driven with a sharper bit. The thought is full of consolation, that He who has fixed the bounds of our habitation, has also fixed the bounds of our tribulation.

What do you get when you mix fellowship and projects?

You get: Happy husbands (honey-do-list shortens). You get fun time with your girlfriends and you finally get that project completed.

Seriously, what a blessing to each of us who are involved. We are getting so good that soon we will be the “Moms Pro Painters” ha!

This past week it was my turn and we painted Gillian’s room. While we painted the kids got to play together, I must admit we got it painted really quick! I was really glad that I didn’t paint her room when she was a baby, because it was fun to let her pick out the colors she wanted. I had given her a handful of samples (that I could live with) and she picked out three of them, however I only used two. I have to admit she has a really good eye for this stuff. The colors are very complimentary and very soothing. I am still getting her room put back together but it is just so fun and girly and best of all my baby girl loves it! Thanks girls!

My boys took in a Sky Sox game this week. I believe it was Hays’ first ball game. While the game itself didn’t appear to be the main attraction for Hayden, he was able to share many fun observations with me the next day. I think the hot dogs, dippin’ dots, and cotton candy were a huge plus in the father-son night out. By the way, the Sox did win that time. The highlight of the night was when Hayden was chased by the water-gun wielding Rockies’ Mascot, “Dinger”… who Hayden appropriately called “Danger.”

    Only in Colorado….

Can we start out on a hike to GOGs on a hot, muggy afternoon…skipping and laughing along the way. Soon to feel an occasional sprinkle on our heads. Slowly we see lots of dots, big drops of water falling from the sky and landing on the trail before us. Not threatened by a few sprinkles we persevered. We started down a single track trail, as we all started on this trail a crash of lightened sounded (albeit not real close) we were a bit more threatened and did an about face. As we started back to our car, it started to pour…we all had fun running as fast as we could while we received a nice shower from the heavens. We finally made it to a small bridge for shelter. What a fun family outing, I pray that the kids will always remember days like today. Thank you Lord for this day with my family, thank you for the beautiful rain shower and for our safely.

Rarely do you have a complete day worth blogging about. I was given the sweet gift of such a day.

This day did not start like any other day, it started out blessed. You can say this when you have had many a mornings where you just want to hide under the covers and not come out.

We have been working with the kids on not coming into our room so early every morning and expecting us to bounce right out of bed ready for the day, it just doesn’t happen for mom and dad that way! Hayden has always gotten up at 6:00 AM and daddy always gets up with him and they have ‘their’ time. While Gillian will crawl into bed with me and sleep in with me. This all sounds sweet and believe me sometimes it really is. But, we are trying to break some of the expectations that come with all that sweetness.

I am certain that this morning was a fluke, but it was a special morning for mom and dad. Hayden woke up at his usual time, he got dressed, made his bed (without prompting), came in and told Daddy he would be downstairs. Whoa!! A few minutes later, Gillian walks in and says, I am going downstairs. Humm…I am barely awake but this all strikes me as a bit out of sorts. But, I lose that thought as I fall back to sleep only to be awakened by our new puppy who is now needing to outside.

I get dressed to take the dogs outside and I come downstairs and Hayden has not only made his bed etc. He is making breakfast for he and his sister. He got the toaster and frozen waffles out and created a mouth watering masterpiece. At the point of my entering the room, I see him pouring a handful of chocolate chips onto their waffles and lightly topped that with syrup. He also poured each of them a cup of milk. I had to tell you, my first thought was, “I am dreaming this, I am not awake!” ;-)

I was so happy at that moment and I could tell they both were too. Simple acts of kindness and independence we my first gift of the day.

The other gift was delivered not much later that morning. We packed up and went to the pool. Hayden had a sub today in class and he was also the only child there for about the first 10 minutes of class, so he got a private lesson for that time. He seemed determined today to meet some sort of personal challenge he had. He did all that was asked of him in class and was doing it so much better than he ever has. He even looked to be enjoying himself. I was so happy for him, he finally is letting go of the fear he and I both share around water. I can really imagine how he must feel as I know how I would feel if I were him accomplishing these tasks.

If that was not enough we spent the rest of the morning at the pool with friends. This is always good because they get to practice the techniques they are learning and apply them while they are having fun. Three HUGE accomplishments for the kids were: 1: Gillian got her face in the water; 2. Hayden went down the lazy river alone; 3. Hayden went down the slide and loved it.

All this brought me such joy. What a blessed day!

This years PV Twins tball team had a great season. This years team seemed to be so mature compared to last year. Granted they are a year old and know how the game is played, even so they seemed better than other teams. Each of the kids really improved in all areas, they all seemed to cheer each other on, showed good sportsmanship and had lots of fun.

Hayden really improved his running and catching from last year. He even improved his favorite part (hitting) that was what he was strongest in last year but this year he really seemed to be better all around. It was so fun the last few games he actually caught a few balls. I could tell he was happy that he was able to accomplish that.

I am a little sad another summer tball season is over, it will always hold fun memories for me. This park is a very special park for us and many special memories. I hope that both of the kids will always treasure these days too. I know that Hayden will always remember that his Nana B and Aunt Ni went to everyone of his games. He has a great fan club. Way to go Twins and Hayden!!!!
