Silly Gilly

Where do these little stinkers come up with the funniest things???fungus feet

Tonight while Kip and the kids were playing Hide-n-Seek, Kip and H were hiding in the pantry where Gigi quickly finds them. However, Kip was holding the knob so she couldn’t open the door. She let go of the knob and looks under the door, quickly stands up and says “I know you are in there, I see FUNGUS FEET!”

She had us ALL rolling on the floor.

Spare, Strike and Gutterball

As you’ve read, we thought going on a date as a couple was difficult. This morning we spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out a fun family outing.

While all suggestions were equally exciting, we, as a family voted for Bowling. ;-) Now, as many of you know, I am NO bowler and this was the first time our kids have ever bowled. But this proved to be a super fun filled family activity (who knew?).

Although I didn’t make 100, I got mighty close.

The surprise was how well little Miss Gigi bowled (she broke 100). Way to go, baby girl!!!

Strong and mighty Hays also has quite the curve ball that mommy has. We were always neck and neck with each other.

It is no surprise that Kip beat us with a 209, his second game was really good!

It was really fun to watch both of the kids gain confidence after each turn, at the end Gigi was struttin’ back to her seat! It was unanimous that we all will add bowling to our family fun list.

My Valentine

I would like to preface this with I am NOT spoiled but LOVED!!!
My dear, sweet Valentine bought me the project desk I have wanted for so long. (Seriously – it would be silly not to!) My amazing patience (he he) paid off…well…it really did!!! I watched this desk for m-o-n-t-h-s, I watched it go down to 30% off and then just last week it was 50% off!!!

I don’t quite know if Kip was as convinced as I was but he could tell that I wasn’t going to be able to sleep until I was certain one of them had MY name on it! He promptly called and ordered one after lunch and the next day at lunch it was here!!! The best part is that Kip came home at lunch and put it together for me!!! I just LOVE it.

The nice thing is that the kids can do homework on it, we can use it for puzzles, games and most importantly my crafts!!!

Thank you, my sweet Valentine!

Remember When Going on a Date Was Easy?

Or at least easier.

This weekend we seized the opportunity to sneak out for a little date. What we didn’t know is how hard that has really become. Planning ahead we had a sitter all lined up, so the morning of we went on-line and checked out the movie scene. Hrmmm….There is not a lot to chose from that is not rated ‘R’ and worth paying the big bucks for. The few that we did find started at 8:40 (yeah right!) or they were at The Dollar theater (where you probably shouldn’t go on a weekend night).

We strategized ‘Plan B’. Dinner? Shopping? Both?

Opting for ‘Both’, we picked up the sitter, and headed out. We both felt like steak and baked potato so we headed to Outback. Can you tell, it has been a long while since we have actually gone out on a date? We got to The Outback and found the parking lot full, not just a little full but overflowing, coupled with a wait of over an hour, we turned around and moved onto ‘Plan C’.

Still entertaining visions of steak and potatoes dancing in our head, we moved on to The Saltgrass Restaurant, where again we were met with an hours wait. Plan ’4′? ‘D’?

Taco Bell? No..we ended up going to The Elephant Bar Restaurant that offered only a 35 minute wait. We honkered in and waited and waited and waited. We did enjoy this time to have a nice conversation (a treat in itself) and in the end we tried a new restaurant, enjoyed great service and an equally great meal.

Now we both agree, that we need to plan dates for Monday nights at 4:00 PM.

Blue Valentine

How on earth can any person have a Blue Valentines Day when their family loves them so much? I asked myself that all day long and here are some of the things that contributed to the blues.

1. Not making it to either kids Valentines party!

2. I found out my car battery was dead when I went to take Gillian to school. Had to call my poor hubby to come bail us out. (I know it could have been worse, dh could still work across town, we were safe and not in an accident…I know, but still.)

3. I was so stressed about all the errands I had to do in the morning to make the day special that my attitude was a bit sour. But, once again my amazing husband rescued me by reminding me it is not about where we go, what we get or what we eat. It is about who we are with. I am so blessed, aren’t I?

4. Oh, dh and the kids surprised me with chocolate and roses waiting for me when I woke up!!!! I still had to go out and get my Valentines stuff…how bad is THAT?

5. We had a very busy afternoon.

6. We ate pizza!!!

7. But the worst part of my day was when we went shopping as a family to let the kids spend their Valentines money at Target. I had to check out this new detergent Method (tip from my dear friend). So I opened it to smell (no problem). Then my sweet baby asked me if she could smell it and what happens??? The detergent squirts out of the bottle and into my sweet baby girls face. It got her in her eye, nose and mouth!!!! Only I could accomplish this!!! She was such a tough little girl. I carried her and the bottle to find Daddy, so he could read it for us because I couldn’t read the bottle through the tears in my eyes!!! All night she was tasting the soap!!! After many kisses, hugs and apologies she finally says to me, “Mom, it was just an accident, I am going to be okay!”

After looking back and putting a spin of perspective, I realize that it was all just how it was supposed to be, we are all fine, we are blessed to be loved and to be able to love. I even made a Valentines dinner for my family today! Happy February 15th!

Providence

I yield to thy sovereignty all that I am and have;
do thou with me as thou wilt.
Thou hast given me silence in my heart
in place of murmurings and complaints.
Keep my wishes from growing into willings,
my willings from becoming fault-finding
with thy providences,
and have mercy on me.

Girls Day

My daughter and I were granted a precious nugget of time together today. I can’t tell you for certain what it meant to her but if it meant to her what it meant to me, it was priceless.

Now that she is tucked in her bed, hopefully having sweet dreams, I sit here and look back on our day. Why is it we make so much time for housework, duties and others and rarely pamper ourselves or our kids with TIME? Don’t get me wrong, I love quality time with God, my husband and friends but this one on one time that we get with our kids is yanked away so quickly from us. I need to take more days like today to just stay home with not a single thing on our calendar.

In fact it was jammy/comfy day for the girls. We didn’t go anywhere other than to the school (yes, in our jammies). We just laughed, chatted, played, read and attempted a craft.

I know that I am not the first mom, nor will I be the last to say that, “I wish they could stay this age for forever!” It brings me to tears thinking about the day my baby girl won’t come running to me for lovin’s or my baby boy will not want me to hug him at school.

Alas, tomorrow is another of those crazy days but I have my memories from today to sustain me to the next family day. I can always hope that it will snow so much that school will be delayed and be granted another day with my kids.
